Office vs remote work: how we do it

    By Milana Bozicic | Uncategorized | 0 comment | 7 May, 2020 | 0

Working from home for someone is a blessing. Some of us love to get up early and to be the first one at the office and some people love to have both options: to work from home and from the office.

Well, these days we are all working from home.  And of course – everything is different at home: organization, communication, and interaction. Some of us are enjoying reconstructing home space into workspace but some are facing distractions and missing daily working routines.

At codecentric you can work from home once a week – to be honest, we all love that perk. Who wouldn’t love that, right? But also, coming to the office, drinking your favorite coffee with your teammates – it’s something that is irreplaceable.

What our daily routine looks like?

Let’s start with morning – making your favorite coffee or tea in a kitchen full of colleagues. It’s always great to have a little chit chat with teammates who are working on different projects. After that – meetings, of course. When we want to take a break – our gaming zone or playing table tennis is an ideal solution. We are also doing workshops on some technical topics and organizing learning sessions. But, our favorite events are Family days, Open days, and Meetups. Maybe we can’t organize it all now – but we are super ready when the time comes.

    Remote work

Ever since March we are all in our houses – with families, children, pets, or just with “me, myself and I”.

We can’t equalize this “working remotely” situation with working from home once a week, but we have decided to do everything to keep that office enthusiasm. This is how:

    1. Virtual coffee

Twice a week we are drinking online coffee. Of course – teams are hearing from each other on a daily basis – like they are still sharing their office. 🙂

    2. Learning sessions

Since April we have started with online learning sessions. Whoever wants can participate and work on themselves – even if they want to know more about improving their emotional intelligence, communication skills, leadership, etc. We have the same practice as we have had at the office – every Friday is reserved for learning sessions.

    3. Online games

No gaming zone? That is not a problem, we are meeting online and playing Rocket League, Counter-Strike, Dota, and so on.

    4. Yoga

For over a month some cc girls are practicing yoga. Each training someone else is choosing a group of muscles they want to exercise. After the workout, there is always time to discuss some good receipts and share good practices on how to balance work and personal life.

    5. Home office pics

On our Slack channel we are sharing home office pictures – with pets (check out our Instagram account – you can even find a hedgehog), stuffed toys, and a beer mug.

    6. Online job interviews

We are still looking for new teammates and we have decided to continue with the interview process – we know that is not the same as face to face, but it’s also fun to meet new people whether it’s online or at the office.

There are always great and valuable things we can do online. We told you what we did and what are we still doing – and how did you spend these remote work days?
